  • Dr. Benson Superintendent W. Bruce Benson

    Dr. W. Bruce Benson joined Stafford County Public Schools on April 1, 2014, as superintendent.  A 33-year veteran of public education, Dr. Benson came to Stafford County Public Schools from Accomack County Public Schools where he served as superintendent from 2011 to 2014.  Prior to Accomack, he also served in Albemarle County and Franklin City Public Schools, both in Virginia.

    Dr. Benson has a bachelor of arts degree in secondary education from Western Michigan University where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry.  He earned his master of science degree in secondary education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, adding a teaching endorsement in computer science.  His doctorate in administration and supervision was earned from the University of Virginia. In addition, Dr. Benson completed the Executive Leadership Program for Educators at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.

    Dr. Benson and his wife Barbara, who is a nurse, have three daughters, a son, and four grandchildren.
