Hi Families of the greatest first grade class EVER! Martin Luther King Jr said, "We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now."
We are, indeed , in the same boat, trying to navigate through this everchanging school year. I must say that there is not another group of people I'd rather be on this boat with. You are without a doubt, one of the best group of individuals I have worked with in 21 years. Of course, that makes this even more difficult because I am missing your kiddos a lot. BUT...this isn't a sad post, just one of reassurace and hope.
You are ENOUGH! This journey may make you feel like you aren't, but you are. You were your kids first teacher so you already know what to do. I've just given back the reins to you for a little while. Right now, enjoy your time getting back to the basics with your kids. Stay up late, laugh, create, get messy, watch too much TV....you know...all the good stuff. Parents, I know many of you are working from home and I applaud you for wearing many hats.
The work that was given before break is completely optional and it will not be graded. As we wade deeper into this online schooling, at this time, everything will be review and nothing will be graded. All work will be optional. (You don't have to tell your kids that if you don't want to. :o) When/If the policy on that in the county changes, I will let you know.
In the meantime, Razkids has waived their fee for usage so look into that. There are leveled readers for your kids to use. Also, Epic is a great site for books. As always, kids can go to Dreambox to work on their math skills.
I will be in touch with you to keep you posted on any updates. Please let your kids send me emails. I got 2 last night from kids and I smiled my way to sleep. I miss them very much so I won't be too far away. Please reach out to me if you need ANYTHING and stay well.
