This year we will be using a lot of technology in and out of the classroom. The great thing about this is that students with access to a home computer, phone, or tablet will be able to easily share their work and what they are learning with their parents. Students will also be able to easily see what we are doing in class in the event of an absence. The first few weeks of school will be spent learning the different programs we will be using this year. We will be utilizing Google Classroom and the Falmouth webpage daily. In addition, programs we will use frequently include Dreambox, Prodigy, SOL Pass, Math Antics, Khan Academy, ReadWorks, and Common Lit. The school does have chromebooks and wifi available to borrow on a take home basis. Parents request the technology, sign a technology agreement and the stuent may take the Chromebook with wifi home for a month at a time. Please let me know if you child does not have access to technology at home and I will work with you to get one for your child to borrow.
Parents, please read the information sheet and watch the short presentation to learn about Class Dojo, the class management system I use in my classroom. I hope you and your child get excited about this system. My past students have loved the program. I encourage each parent to download the Class Dojo app so that you can keep up to date with what we are doing in the classroom. I will send home a form the first week of school asking you to sign giving permission for your child to use Class Dojo in the classroom. I will also send home a code personalized for your child so that you can link to your child's account and use it as a tool to guide discussion with your child about thier classroom behavior and performance. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
