Hello, Barrett Families! 

This is my first year as Principal at KWBES and I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this incredible school! After moving to Virginia from western Pennsylvania in 2008, I began my career as a Special Education teacher at Colonial Beach High School. I moved on to teach 5th grade at Lafayette Elementary School in Fredericksburg City, where I remained until transitioning into administration as Assistant Principal of Yowell Elementary in Culpeper. I came to Stafford County Public Schools during the 2021-2022 school year as AP at Widewater Elementary and am so fortunate to have been embraced by this wonderful Stafford community. My husband, Cameron is also an educator and currently teaches 8th grade science in Prince William County.

I truly believe that we are strongest when we work as a team in support of our scholars and I am so grateful for the opportunity to partner with you as we look forward to an amazing school year ahead. Together, we will ensure that Kate Waller Barrett continues to serve and support our students and families by maintaining a safe, inclusive, and loving environment for ALL!

I can’t wait to welcome our Barrett scholars, caregivers, and community members - new and returning - as we begin this year together. I am honored to be a part of this team and am committed to being at my best each and every day for you and your children!
