    • STAMP World Language Benchmark Test

      What is the test?

      • Avant STAMP ( Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) language assessment to your high school World Language student at the end of their course this year. This assessment measures students’ abilities through reading, writing, speaking and listening in the target language.
      • Individual student score reports will be provided with details of how students performed on each test section and do not include a passing/failing score. This assessment measures a student’s proficiency and indicates where your child is in their language development. It will not count as a grade by your child's teacher and there is no studying involved. Other than in-class instruction, no extra preparation is needed for this assessment.
      • STAMP is an adaptive test -- adjusting to a student’s ability, so they are challenged, but not overwhelmed. In other words, the assessment allows students to show what they can do with the language – from the novice to the advanced level.
      • If your child achieves an overall score of “Intermediate-Mid or equivalent to the score of 5” on this assessment, they will be awarded the Virginia Diploma Seal of Biliteracy, a special recognition that promotes and validates bilingualism and biliteracy in English and another language. This can be something your student can put on their resume and take with them after high school and beyond.
