We hope you have had a wonderful summer with your families. The Shirley Heim staff has been working hard to prepare for this new school year. The first day of school will be Monday, August 12th and they look forward to welcoming our students.
Open House is Wednesday, August 7, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In order to accommodate all our families and provide adequate parking, we ask that families attend Open House based on the first letter of the student’s last name:
A-G 4:00-5:00 p.m.
H-O 5:00-6:00 p.m.
P-Z 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Class schedules will be available on Open House night.
P.E. uniforms will be on sale for our 7th and 8th graders - $10 for shirts and $10 for shorts. Payments can be made online. Sixth graders do not dress out for P.E. It is no longer a requirement that P.E. uniforms be purchased through the school, however, 7th and 8th grade students must dress out for P.E., and P.E. clothes must adhere to the SCPS dress code policy. Please refer to the SCPS Code of Conduct for the dress code policy.
Please remember to stop by the PTO table during Open House. We will be selling spirit wear, so come check it out!
Additionally, we have Shirley Heim personalized water bottles for sale.
Returning students need to make sure they do not have outstanding textbooks or library books before they return to school this year.
Tdap shot documentation must be on file with the clinic for all students prior to entering seventh grade by August 12, 2019. Sports Physicals are also due prior to fall sport tryouts at the beginning of the school year.

Fall Sports Tryouts
Mark your calendars! Fall Sports Tryouts begin on Monday, August 19. 2019 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Students trying out for Heim’s Volleyball, Football, and Field Hockey teams must have a copy of their current Sports Physical by the first day of tryouts. Sports physicals can be brought to the front office any time during the summer or by the first day of tryouts at the very latest.

Our first PTO meeting of the school year will be September 4th at 7:00 p.m. Please come and see how you can get involved. There will be new volunteer forms available, one per family, which will be included in your student’s open house class packets. We have many committee positions available as many families moved on to high school after the last school year Come and get involved! Our PTO meetings will be held throughout the school year on the first Wednesday of every month, at 7:00 p.m.
