    SOLS will be coming - Don't Panic!

     

    The Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools describe the commonwealth's expectations for student learning and achievement in grades K-12 in English, mathematics, science, history/social science, technology, the fine arts, foreign language, health and physical education, and driver education.

    These standards represent a broad consensus of what parents, classroom teachers, school administrators, academics, and business and community leaders believe schools should teach and students should learn.

    In the four core areas of English, mathematics, science, and history/social science, a curriculum framework also is provided that details the specific knowledge and skills students must possess to meet the standards for these subjects.

    This page has been created for Parent/Student Access to help support you with links to practice SOL sites, available guidelines to help make the testing experienced successful, and it also provides our SOL schedule to keep you informed as to when we will be testing at Gayle.

     

    SOL  Survivor Tips

     

    General Suggestions:
    1.  Get a good night’s sleep the night before the test!
    2.  Eat a good breakfast for energy.
    3.  Dress appropriately for school. Dressing comfortably and dressing in layers will ensure that you won’t be too hot or cold during testing.
    4.  Bring a pencil with you.
    5.  Follow directions carefully.
    6.  Read each question.
    7.  Move on if you don’t know an answer. Return to that question later.
    8.  Review your test to make sure you’ve answered every question.
    9.  NO FOOD, DRINK, OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PERMITTED IN THE LABS.
    10. Bring a book to testing to read when you are finished with your test.
