Welcome to first grade, and I'm so excited to be your child's teacher this year! I enjoyed meeting you at Open House, and I look forward to getting to know everyone! I'll be posting announcements on this page regularly, so stay tuned!
Monday August 12 is the first day of school! I am looking forward to seeing everyone. Please make sure you check your child's backpack and folder every day, and use the blue communication folder to send me any important notes, etc. I check this folder every morning, and send it home every evening. You can also reach me via my email, email@example.com.
Snacks: The children will have a chance to have snacks in the afternoon, so please send a healthy snack every day with your child (e.g. crackers, fruit, veggies; no candy or desserts, please). It's quite a long time between lunch and dismissal! :) Please note that due to a new school-wide nut-free policy in all classrooms, I ask that you not send snacks containing peanuts or tree nuts.
Examples of appropriate snacks: Fruit, veggies with hummus or other dip, pretzels, crackers and cheese.
Students with sugary snacks (or items containing peanuts or tree nuts) may be asked to take them home and offered an alternative, as healthy eating is vitally important for optimal learning! Thank you for your understanding and help with this!
We love celebrating birthdays in our room! On your child's birthday (or on the Friday before or Monday following if it is on the weekend) you may send in miniature store-bought cupcakes to share with the class. Please note that the cupcakes must be the miniature kind, and must be made in a facility that does not process peanuts or tree nuts. They will need to be taken to the office, and the school nurse will check to make sure they comply with our nut-free policy before sending them down to the classroom.
Also, if your child is having a birthday party, I will gladly hand out invitations as long as all of the students in the class are invited. If you are only inviting some of the children I ask that you please deliver invitations to those friends on your own. Thank you for your understanding!
