• Cafe Book at Drew

What is it?  Cafe Book is a program for 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in reading and discussing new books.  During the summer the Cafe Book committee meets and selects 16 books, all published during the past year, to be considered by Cafe Book participants.

Who can join?  ANY 7th or 8th grade student who is interested in Cafe Book is welcome to join the group!

When does it meet?  All Cafe Book meetings take place during your lunch in the library.  Members will get a pass to the meetings where we will discuss the books.  We meet on the same day each week with a voting party at the last meeting in December.

What do I do?  All students involved in Cafe Book agree to read at least three of the 16 books on the list, although you are encouraged to read as many as possible.  During the meetings, students will discuss the books, focusing on their strong and weak points.  At the end of the first semester students will also take a field trip to the public library for a special event after the voting is complete.
