Welcome to the SMS Spartans Volleyball Program.  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to our SMS volleyball community. I am Craig Makufka - SMS Volleyball Head Coach. I moved to the area in May 2020, so I am a relative newcomer. This is my first year teaching at SMS, I am the 7th Grade Life Science teacher. Originally, I grew up in western Pennsylvania and graduated from Clarion University (in PA) with my B.S. in Biology. I have been playing since I was 12 years old, starting with recreational adult volleyball leagues with my family. I then transitioned into high school varsity volleyball, which continued into playing at Clarion University for the inter-collegiate team. I have a couple of seasons as an assistant coach at the girls high school level. Sports (I played baseball, volleyball, football, and bowling) have taught me a lot about myself, teamwork, success and failures, as well as life in general. Those experiences and lessons have helped me develop into who I am today. As a coach, I am determined to provide those learning experience opportunities to the players. 

Welcome to the 2021-2022 SMS Spartan Volleyball Program

Below is our Fall 2021 Volleyball Season Schedule. All matches start at 4:00 pm. More information and details regarding the Volleyball Program will be provided to all players and parents at the start of the season. 

Tryouts:

There will be three days of tryouts. Tryouts will be from 3:00 - 5:00 pm

1. August 16, 2021
2. August 17, 2021
3. August 18, 2021

* ALL players must complete the SMS Physcial Form in order tryout and participate in the Volleyball Program.
