    Happy April, Kindercat Families! This month we are welcoming Spring and warmer weather. We will be starting our new 8-1 schedule! We are so excited to have the opportunity to have all of our students together in the classroom. 

     

    We will be learning all about the life cycle of a plant and celebrating Earth Day!

    Events: 

    April 2 will be an asynchronous afternoon. There will be NO small groups or specials. 

    No school Monday, April 5! There will be no morning meeting or Choice Board. 

    Student of the Month celebration will be April 26 @ 240

    April 22 is Earth Day! Have your child wear blue and green to school! 

    AMC and PALS testing will be taking place throughout the month of April!

     

    Reminders:

    • Please send in a weather appropriate extra set of clothes for your child. 
    • Since students will be able to go out (weather permitting) please make sure they have on appropriate shoes. 
    • Please make sure you are REGULARLY checking the yellow Take Home folder
    • Your child should be completing and submitting the Choice Board! 
    • Have your child logging on to Lexia and Dreambox as much as possible. (Our expectation is t1 hour per app)
    • Attendance is taken daily at 8:00am

    Kindergarteners should be close to mastering the following objectives by March: 

    Mastery of foundational concepts is essential for moving forward to high level learning in the third and fourth quarters.  

    • Recognize ALL letters, uppercase and lowercase
    • Recognize all letter sounds and ch, sh, th 
    • Count to 100 by 10s
    • Working towards counting to 100
    • Count backwards from 10 to 0
    • Produce rhyming words
    • Identify beginning and final sounds of consonant, vowel, consonant (CVC) words (i.e. D-O-G)
    • Read a minimum of twenty sight words
