Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Debbie Bohr. I began working with preschoolers while still in high school. I got my first teaching job in 1994 and have been teaching ever since. I started my professional teaching career as as a high school teacher of students with Learning Disabilities at Francis Scott Key High School in Carroll County Maryland. After 2 years, I moved to the middle school level where I taught for an other 5 years. While in Carroll County, I spent many of my summers working with students with autism and or severe intellectual or physical difficulties.
In 2001, I moved from Westminster, MD to Manassas, Virginia. I taught in Prince William County at Marsteller Middle for 3 years, working as an inclusion and self-contained special education teacher.
In 2004, due to the commute, new marriage and 4 new step children, I switched counties. I started working in Stafford County at Rodney Thompson Middle School. While there we added a 5th child to our family. I taught there for 2 years, 1 as a special education teacher, another as a 6th grade LA teacher.
When Anthony Burns opened in 2006 moved to the elementary level. I have taught 4th grade, 3rd grade, 1st grade and kindergartenat ABES. I love teaching children!! I adore teaching the primary grades! These young students are open to all possibilities in life! They are just beginning their adventure into formal learning and I feel that it is my job to inspire them. I hope to share my love of learning with them! It is my personal mission to get my students excited about learning!
In the fall of 2019 I took a position at Falmouth Elementary School as an elementary teacher. I love this new school. The staff and administration are focusd on building up our students and their families. We have out reach nights in our students neighborhoods. I have delivered pizzas to our families as a fund raiser. I adore the family focus of this elementary school.
It has been my true pleasure to have been teaching since 1994. I enjoy teaching and hope that I have provided meaningful experiences to develop a lifelong love for learning in my students. I truly want their years at the elementary school to be a positive experience. I enjoy sharing my love of science, math, history, reading and writing with my students. I especially love to seeing all the young children grow, learn and develop a positive self image. In our classroom, we work together to build a positive classroom environment that celebrates our many accomplishments as individuals and as a class.
