Mrs. Simms

Hello! My name is Mrs. Simms and I am so excited to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year. I’d like to tell you a little about myself, just as I hope to get to know all of you better throughout the school year. This will be will be my 13th year of teaching. I taught for seven years in Richmond City Public Schools and 4 years in Spotsylvania County Public Schools. I attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA, where I prepared myself for the teaching field. I am a recent graduate of Liberty University where I earned my master’s in Administration & Supervision hoping to soon become a principal.

My philosophy of education is that all students have the right to learn. Students should have a place where they can come to express their opinions and ideas comfortably. In my classroom, that is what I will provide. Students will be able to learn reading and writing in a hands-on fashion applying it to their everyday lives. Students can learn to share, make choices, good choices, and set high goals for themselves. I will also make my classroom a fun learning environment in which my students WILL SUCCEED! TOGETHER we can make this possible!

Communicating with you is very important to me, so please, call me when you have a question or concern. The number here at school is (540) 361-1455. My email is simmsnl@staffordschools.net. Feel free to contact me through either form of communication. I look forward to working with you and having a great school year.
