Ms. Burroughs

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Widewater Elementary! This is my 12th year teaching and my 2nd year at Widewater. I have taught grades K5-6th and 7th-8th grade Math/Science in the private and public school setting. I have one child, who is a Wildcat at Widewater! I have a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. Ed in Education with a concentration in Familes and Communities. I enjoy sports and attending games. My favorite teams are South Caronlina Lady Gamecocks, North Carolina Tarheels and Golden State Warriors. In my spare time I enjoy shopping, reading, traveling and spending time with family/friends.

I am looking forward to learning and growing with your child this year as their 2nd grade teacher. This year I will spend time encouraging positive social interactions among the students, helping them to become more independent during the school year, and nurturing a classroom of respectful and caring children. This will also be a year of tremendous academic growth.  My hope is that all students feel safe and secure. Reaching this goal will require encouragement and teamwork. I firmly believe that a positive learning environment is of the utmost importance for students to be successful. As a teacher, I will strive daily to be a role model and a person students can come to for guidance. I also believe students should master the basics in order to have further success. This is why parent communication and involvment is important. Together we will make your child’s 2nd grade year is the best! Please do not hestiate to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child. (
