The Census benefits SCPS

  • Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a census review. Beginning in March 2020, households will receive a letter asking them to complete the 2020 census questionnaire. This year, respondents will have three options for completing the survey: online, by phone, and through the mail. Additionally, the survey is available in English and 12 other languages. Areas less likely to respond online will receive a paper questionnaire along with the invitation to respond online or by phone.

Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) urges you to complete the questionnaire, as results from the survey directly benefit SCPS students. Census data helps determine the allocation of Title I funds, which provide financial assistance to schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families. The information collected also forms the basis for distributing billions of dollars in federal funds annually to states, counties, and communities that support schools and other critical community resources.

Every person counts in the census. If you have questions regarding the 2020 census information, please visit Census.gov or the Stafford County Government's Census 2020 page.
