P-EBT Update for Summer 2022
P-EBT Processing Issue
September 12, 2022 - Due to a card processing issue, many new and existing P-EBT households did not receive the summer benefit issued on August 25. We have escalated this issue with our state vendor to expedite the release of benefits. For some households, this will require that a new P-EBT card be issued to the address provided by the eligible student's school district. We expect that all cards will be received no later than September 30, 2022.
If you recently received a P-EBT card that is not working, a replacement card is already on the way. You do not need to take any action at this time to report your invalid card. Please do not contact the P-EBT Call Center or submit an Inquiry Form to order another card, as this may further delay the processing of your benefits. If you have not received a new card of benefits by September 30, please contact the P-EBT Call Center at 1-866-513-1414.
Please be assured that we are actively working with our state partners to distribute these benefits as quickly as possible. Our vendor will continue processing summer P-EBT benefits on a daily basis until all eligible households have received them. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve this matter.
Please note that this processing issue impacts the P-EBT program only and does not affect the release of benefits for participating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households.
All eligible students enrolled during the last month of school year 2021-2022, including new high school graduates, can expect to receive a one-time summer benefit of $391 on August 25, 2022 on their previously issued P-EBT or SNAP EBT card. If you do not have an existing P-EBT card, a card will be mailed to the address provided by your school within 7 to 10 days of issuance. Learn how to PIN your card or request a replacement for a lost or discarded P-EBT card on the Virginia Department of Social Services website.
