Q: Who do I contact to enroll my child in virtual learning?
A: K-12 Inc is currently closed to new enrollments.
Q: Who will be providing K-5 Virtual Instruction?
A: All core academic classes will be provided by K-12 Inc./Stride. Teachers in the K-12 Inc./Stride program will not necessarily be employed by SCPS.
Q: What support services will be provided for my virtual student?
A: Special Education Services: If your child has an IEP, 504, or is in the evaluation process your child’s IEP or 504 teams will convene to discuss what services and accommodations will look like if you chose the virtual option. Special education services will be provided outside of the virtual schedule and therefore may be reduced to an appropriate amount for your child to access instruction.
Focus/Gifted Services: Gifted services will not be provided by K-12/Stride; therefore, SCPS gifted services will be very limited.
English Language Services: EL services will not be provided by K-12/Stride; therefore, SCPS services will be limited to scheduled sessions with an SCPS ESOL specialist to address language acquisition needs in relation to the content material.
Q: What is the commitment to virtual instruction on behalf of the family?
A: Each student will need to have a designated Learning Coach provided by the family. Use the following link to learn more about the role of the Learning Coach: https://www.k12.com/parent-student-resources/succeed-with-online-learning/learning-coach.html Additionally, families will need to commit to a quarter (9 weeks each) so that transition to in-person learning takes place during a natural transition period within the school year.
