• Foundations in Teaching (FIT)

Stafford Schools is committed to excellence in the classroom.  To that end, teachers new to our division participate in a week-long institute which introduces them to staff, policies, and instructional priorities in the district.  Additionally, teachers with 0-2 years of previous experience participate in a 3-day experience, Foundations in Teaching (FIT), which gives them an opportunity to have significant collegial conversations around topics that impact teaching and learning.

The intention of FIT is to:

    • introduce new staff to the language of Skillful Teaching,

    • create supportive cohorts of teachers who teach similar age-groups

    • acknowledge the need for new teachers to feel heard and supported by district leaders (FIT instructors) so that the district can retain a well-trained and highly skilled teaching workforce

Foundations in Teaching (FIT) is a course designed by Research for Better Teaching (RBT)
