Volunteer with Stafford Schools
-
We appreciate your interest in volunteering with Stafford County Public Schools. Our school division offers a variety of activities to choose from when volunteering your time. Simply complete the volunteer application and you will receive instructions on next steps.
It is very important that the information you enter on the application matches your government issued identification including your full legal name. Stafford Schools requires all volunteers who come into schools to provide photo identification, and in some cases complete a background check because student and staff safety is of the utmost importance. All information collected on the application remains confidential and will not be shared outside of Stafford Schools except as required by law.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who can be a volunteer?
Volunteers may include parents/guardians, other family members, our partners, and members of the community interested in supporting education that have an interest in investing their time and talents to support students in Stafford.
-
How do I become a volunteer?
Complete the volunteer application and schedule a time for fingerprinting with the Department of Safety, Security & Risk Management.
-
Why do I have to be fingerprinted?
It is of the utmost importance to Stafford Schools that we gather all the information required to maintain a safe learning environment for our students and staff.
Please note: We are not able to accept fingerprint results from other establishments in lieu of administering our own background check. The reports generated when fingerprinting takes place can vary by establishment.
-
What procedures do I follow when volunteering?
To best support school staff and students, volunteers are expected to follow these procedures each time they volunteer:
- Volunteers must sign-in and sign-out of the building using the Visitor Identification System (VIS).
- Volunteers must wear the VIS produced volunteer identification name tag at all times while on school property.
- Volunteers may not access confidential student or personnel records and should respect the confidentiality of students.
- Volunteers working with students must be within view of other Stafford Schools staff members and avoid unsupervised, one-on-one student contact.
-
How do I find volunteer opportunities?
The best way to begin volunteering is to contact Volunteer Liaison or contact a school directly to find out what volunteer opportunities are available.
Volunteer Liaisons
-
