Mrs. Tammy Hunt

I would like to introduce myself. I bled blue as I was born, raised, and educated in Kentucky. My husband, Dave, and I met in college. Two weeks after I graduated in December of 1981 we were married. Three days after our wedding we moved to Virginia, the first of our many moves around the U.S., as he trained to become an officer in the Marine Corps and then as he trained to become a jet pilot.

Because of Dave's career path I was fortunate to gain experience as a teacher in several different states. I began my teaching career in Texas as a 3rd grade teacher, a move a year and a half later to Arizona allowed me to become an 8th grade and a 4th grade teacher, and the next move two years later to North Carolina afforded me the opportunity to became a 6th grade teacher. While stationed in North Carolina our oldest son, Jake, was born and I decided to take a break from teaching and enjoy being a mother. From North Carolina we moved back to Texas where our youngest son, Sam, was born. About a year after he was born I returned to work teaching 4th grade at the same school in Texas where I had started my teaching career. Another move to Virginia for a year followed our time in Texas where I again stayed home with the boys. With our next move we returned to Arizona where we were finally able to spend more than 2 years in one place. While stationed there I returned to teaching and taught 4th grade for four years. The next two years found us once again living in North Carolina and me teaching 3rd grade and 5th grade. Dave was then selected to attend the Naval War College in Rhode Island for a year, which was exciting for the whole family as we had never lived that far north! I enjoyed our time there staying home, being mom, and traveling to places I had only read about and always wanted to visit. From Rhode Island it was back to Arizona for three years where Dave took command of a Harrier squadron and I decided to continue to stay home with the boys, subbing from time to time. His next set of orders brought us once again to Virginia. This move was our 21st move and we decided it was time for us to stay in one place for a while as our sons were middle school and high school age. The first year living in Stafford I stayed home, but I realized how much I missed teaching and I made the decision to go back to work in 2002. I have been teaching 4th grade ever since.

Over the years during my spare time I developed two passions other than teaching, family, and friends, BOOKS and SHOES, which is obvious the minute you walk into my classroom! You will find books everywhere and me towering over them in my heels! Being empty nesters now, Dave and I are able to enjoy ourselves traveling (you wouldn't think we would ever want to go anywhere after all those moves) to see our sons and with friends where we are both able to pursue our passions, me buying books and shoes, and Dave playing golf.
