Via SCPS Policy 1110, the school board has created 10 committees to advise it on matters of concern/interest and in such other areas as have been mandated by state/federal law, rule, or regulation. The 10 advisory committees are as follows:

1. Capital Improvement Plan Advisory Committee
   To advise the Board concerning community perspectives about the school division's planned capital improvement investments addressing student accommodations; facility renovation and major maintenance; land acquisition, disposition, and/or development; capital equipment; and new construction.
   
   
2. Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee (as mandated by 8 VAC 20-120-50)
   To provide recommendations to the Board on current job needs and the relevancy of career and technical education programs offered and to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the local plan and application in accordance with relevant law, rule, and/or regulation.
   
   
3. Citizens’ Budget Advisory Committee
   To advise the Board concerning community perspectives regarding the evaluation and allocation of resources in accordance with the school division’s strategic plan to provide for a high quality, effective, and efficient school division.
   
   
4. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee
   To advise the Board concerning community perspectives by providing additional information, ideas, and support regarding matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the division’s schools.
   
   
5. Gifted Advisory Committee (as permitted by Va. Code §22.1-18.1)
   To annually review the division’s local plan for gifted education, to monitor implementation of the prior year’s plan, and to advise the Board concerning community perspectives about the school division’s gifted education programs, services, and activities consistent with the requirements of relevant law, rule, and/or regulation.
   
   
6. School Health Advisory Committee (as permitted by Va. Code § 22.1-275.1)
   To assist with the development of health policy; the evaluation of the status of school health, health education, the school environment, and health services; and annually report on the status and needs of student health in the division.
   
   
7. Special Education Advisory Committee (as mandated by 8 VAC 20-81-230
   To advise the Board of needs in the education of children with disabilities, participate in the development of strategies to meet the identified needs, submit periodic reports with recommendations regarding the education of children with disabilities, work with the community as necessary, conduct applicable review(s) of policies and procedures, and participate in the review of the division’s annual plan in accordance with relevant law, rule, and/or regulation.
   
   
8. Technology Advisory Committee
   To advise the Board concerning community perspectives about the school division's technology plan for both instructional and administrative support functions.
   
   
9. Transportation Advisory Committee
   To advise the Board concerning community perspectives about the school division’s transportation operations and to make recommendations to improve efficiencies.
   
   
10. Visual and Performing Arts Advisory Committee
    To advise the Board concerning community perspectives about the school division's fine and performing arts programs, including music, theater arts, and visual art, and curriculum supporting the fine arts in Stafford County Schools.
