ADULT COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  As outlined in Stafford Schools Policy 1110-P, two (adult) residents from each magisterial district shall serve two-year staggered terms to ensure continuity of experience and work of the advisory committees. For example, one Rock Hill resident will serve a two-year term from 2024 through 2025; while the second Rock Hill resident will serve a two-year term from 2025 through 2026. Each committee member's term begins in mid-January and ends on December 31 of the following year. If a member resigns from a committee, another applicant from that magisterial district will be selected to serve for the remainder of the departing member's two-year term.

STUDENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  Students are appointed at the beginning of the school year in mid-August and will serve until the end of the school year in late May. Students from the applicant pool are selected by Dr. Marcie Rice, executive director of high school leadership, in coordination with the staff liaison for each committee. The goal is to have at least two students on each committee.

The school board's advisory committees usually meet in person. However, the committees are permitted to hold up to two virtual meetings per calendar year.

There is no prohibition against serving on more than one committee at the same time. However, it may be difficult to do so because some committees meet on the same nights at the same time.

Any committee member who misses more than two meetings in a calendar year will be removed from the committee, as stipulated in Stafford Schools Policy 1110 and in each committee's bylaws.
