Career and Technical Education

Purpose

To provide recommendations to the school board on current job needs and the relevancy of career and technical education programs offered; and to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the local CTE plan and application in accordance with relevant law, rule, and/or regulation.

In 2026, the committee will

  1. review and approve the annual CTE Local Plan and Perkins V Budget and the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) prior to the submission of those documents to the school board by the Department of Academic Programs (required by Virginia Code); and
  2. review CTE pathways' course sequences, competencies, enrollment, credentials, workforce data, and student success and make recommendations for improvement; and
  3. review evaluation criteria for middle and high school CTE pathways, to include specialty center pathways.
