K-12 Grading Overview

The evaluation of a student’s success in meeting the objectives of the instructional program is an integral part of the educational process.  Schools will communicate to parents and students on a regular basis an evaluation of the student’s progress toward meeting the academic objectives. 

Stafford County Schools’ teachers  utilize formative and summative assessments of various formats that provide students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate mastery.  These assessments will inform the determination of learning during each quarterly marking period. In our elementary schools, we use Standards-Based Grading, and in our secondary schools, we use a traditional percent-based grading scale.
