Teachers for Tomorrow DE Program

You can complete 6 Dual Enrollment courses (24 credits) through Germanna Community College (GCC), which will transfer to the University of Mary Washington (UMW). These 6 courses will start your path towards Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Pre-K12 Education, or Special Education. The program is offered to rising juniors and seniors. Students can choose to start their college education at GCC or transfer these courses directly to UMW. Transportation will be provided to the Dual Enrollment program.

Program Benefits

  • Introduction to teaching and the teaching profession
  • Opportunities to satisfy beginning teacher assessment requirements
  • Dual Enrollment Credit
  • Scholarship information
  • Field trips
  • Classroom observations
  • Educational Leadership
  • Teaching experience before college
  • Opportunity to make a difference in a student’s life
  • Meaningful, creative, hands-on learning activities

Please Note:

Prospective students may be required to complete an application for admission, provide qualifying SAT scores, or take a placement test. They also will register through their high school in the spring. Tuition is the responsibility of the parents. In determining whether to drop a DE course, the student must follow drop/add procedures and timelines established by the college, not those of the school division. Additionally, students must provide their own transportation to all required practicums.
