
Leadership, Education, and Public Service (LEAPS) Center

The Leadership, Education, and Public Service (LEAPS) Center at Mountain View High School offers coursework and learning experiences that allows students to explore careers and post secondary education in the following areas:
- Community Service And Advocacy
- Criminal Justice
- Education
- Law
- Leadership
Students enrolled in this Specialty Center will develop an appreciation for the importance of leadership with applications in community and public service. Experiences will develop critical thinking, problem solving, team-building, and interpersonal skills. Students in one of the leadership pathways will complete a capstone project and culminating service-learning activity. The criminal justice, law and Future Educator’s Academy pathways provide the opportunity to explore and plan for careers in those fields.
Student Pathways and Eligibility Criteria
The LEAPS Center will have four pathways of study:

Pathway I: Community Leadership

Minimum Criteria: Eligible for grade 9

- Pathway II: Community Leadership with International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme Diploma
- Minimum Criteria: Eligible for grade 9 and successful completion of Algebra I
- Pathway III: Criminal Justice
- Minimum Criteria: Eligible for grade 9
- Pathway III: Future Educator’s Academy
- Minimum Criteria: Eligible for grade 9
- Pathway IV: Law
- Minimum Criteria: Eligible for grade 9
