Parent Teacher Resource Center

The Parent Teacher Resource Center (PTRC) serves as a supportive and collaborative hub for families in Stafford County, as well as educators and others involved in the education and care of children with disabilities. Open to all families in the county, the PTRC provides information, guidance, and resources to help navigate educational pathways and support each child’s unique strengths and needs.

Grounded in a commitment to student self-determination, the PTRC promotes the development of competence, autonomy, and relatedness in every learner. We empower families and educators with tools and knowledge that help students build skills (competence), make meaningful choices and advocate for themselves (autonomy), and develop strong, connected relationships with others (relatedness). Our Collaboration with the I’m Determined Center expands our capacity to support youth, educators, and families to build these essential skills. Through fostering trusting partnerships between parents, caregivers, and school staff, the PTRC helps create a culture where students with disabilities are supported not only to succeed, but to actively participate in shaping their own educational experiences and futures.
