Chalk the Walk

Stafford County Public Schools invites families, staff, students, and community members to participate in our annual Chalk the Walk event on Transition Day, Monday, August 11, 2025 (rain dates/additional chalking days are August 9-10, 2025).

This special tradition brings the community together to create cheerful, encouraging chalk messages on the sidewalks outside each school building. Whether it's a “You’ve got this!” or a simple “Welcome back,” your words and artwork help set a positive tone for the new school year.

How It Works

Chalk the Walk allows participants to write and draw temporary chalk messages and images at school entrances across the division. This community-driven activity was developed based on feedback from families, faith-based organizations, and local partners who wanted a way to show support for Stafford students and staff.

To ensure a smooth, safe, and welcoming experience for everyone, all participants are asked to complete a registration form in advance. This helps us:

  • Avoid overcrowding at school sites

  • Ensure every school receives equal attention and support

  • Communicate important reminders for a safe and fun experience

Important Reminders

  • Sidewalks only—please stay out of roadways and areas with vehicle traffic

  • Participants are responsible for their own safety

  • Bring your own chalk and creativity!
