Can you believe that we are already into March! Here is our current list of studies:
Math - Identifying fractions and addition and subtraction of fractions
Reading - Drawing Conclusions and Fact or Opinion
Social Studies - Developing our new country and government, will be covering Civil War soon
Science - Plants
Students have taken home a few lima beans and will try to grow them at home. They should chart their growth daily and record measurements as they see that growth.
We will be having our main field trip this month on Tuesday, March 13 to Jamestown and Yorktown. Information will be coming home soon about what to bring for that field trip.
Be aware of weekly updates and/or newsletters that will be sent home to notify of school events, classroom volunteer opportunities and other important announcements. I believe that teacher-parent communication is important and I encourage you to contact me with any and questions or concerns. I will be available by e-mail or school phone, or please feel free to send a note back in your child's work folder. You can also look for information on this teacher web page.
In order to promote academic success and a good classroom-learning environment, all students will be expected to abide by classroom rules. Our main classroom rules are: show respect for everyone, always be prepared, have a positive attitude and do your best! We as a class will collaborate together on a class pledge and will be expected to follow that pledge. Please encourage your child to continue to follow those ideas all school year long.
Once again, I am thrilled to be working with your child this year and I cannot wait to see all the amazing achievements this year brings!
