• I hope that your child enjoyed their spring break. We are ready to finish out our school year on a strong note as we finish preparing your child for third grade!

We are about to begin our Charlotte's Web unit. We will be working in small groups on composing responses to dicussion questions in our journals, character analysis, inferencing, cause and effect, and vocabulary (along with other skills that we have worked on this school year!). Please feel free to send in a copy of the book for your child to follow along with as we read- they love this! If you do not have a copy, no worries! We have copies that are available for checkout in the school library, the children may share, or if they just want to listen as I read it aloud that is fine too!

On Wednesday, May 15th, we will have our second field trip of the school year. Information on this will be sent home on April 23rd. There are a limited number of chaperon spots for this trip. Please do not send in a chaperon payment unless I have confirmed that you will be on the trip. Thank you in advance.

Mark your calendars: May 30th will be our second spring showcase. Your child will be working to research an animal and share information about how they live and are able to survive in their habitats! We will transform the second grade hallway to really showcase those different habitats as your child shares what they have learned with you and with other visitors.

Keep up the great work, parents!

  • Welcome to the 'Magnificent Monkey' page! I look forward to a wonderful year of teaching your child!

I believe that every child is capable of learning, though this will occur at a different pace for each unique child. In this classroom, your child will learn to work collaboratively and independently, take risks, and develop confidence in their own unique personalities. My goal for your child is to provide a safe, loving community that they are excited to come to each day, and that they are excited and animated when recounting their day at school to you!
