Welcome to first grade. I love teaching first grade. It is an exciting year with lots of learning and fun activities. This year you will see your child not only grow in height but also gain responsibility skills and achieve many academic successes. Your child will also make many new friends.
In the next few weeks the focus is on class rules, routines, and expectations. These three elements are important to the success of the school year. The classroom will run more smoothly when the students understand the rules, routines, and expectations. The students will also take many assessments. These assessments take a lot of time because most of them are done individually with each student. Please be patient.
On Tuesday, your child will bring home their “Take Home Folder”. Please check the folder because there will be many notes sent home in the next few weeks that will need your attention.
Below is a checklist of ways to be prepared for the first day of school.
- Pack backpack with school supplies.
- Go to bed early on Monday night.
- Eat a healthy breakfast on Tuesday morning.
- Pack a healthy snack.
- Bring lunch money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.
- Ask your child if they are a car, bus, or daycare van rider.
(On Tuesday, our special is Music.)
Thank you in advance for supporting your child, school, and me. It is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher and if you ever have any questions or comments please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I know it’s going to be an awesome year!
