Mrs. Karen Bingham

Hello Wildcats, Wildcat families, and future Wildcats,

I truly love being a part of the Wildcat family and the Widewater community! After graduating from JMU in 1995, I made the decision to begin my adult life here in Stafford County with Stafford County Public Schools and have never left. I love our county and our community! I have been blessed to teach students at Rockhill Elementary, Hampton Oaks Elementary, and Conway Elementary. I completed my Master of Arts from GMU in 2000 and an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from UMW in 2009. In 2010, I was given the opportunity to move from the classroom into administration and returned to my roots as the assistant principal at Rockhill. I remained at RES for 7 years. In 2017, I returned to Conway as the AP there where we worked hard to improve instructional practices through Professional Learning Communities. In January 2019, I was given the opportunity to focus on the needs of our youngest SCPS students and create a school environment that would allow our tiniest Stafford County citizens to soar. SCPS’ newest early childhood facility, North Star Early Childhood Education Center, opened for the 2019-2020 school year.  I have been blessed to have many experiences throughout our community which prepared me to join our WES Family in July 2019.

Here at Widewater, we have the opportunity to make the greatest impact on your child’s life as we have 6 years with our students to watch them grow, love them, and prepare them to soar! We will work every day to create a safe, loving environment for your child and your family! We are here to ensure they love coming to school and become life-long learners who set and meet goals throughout their life!  If, at any time, we are not meeting these expectations, I ask you to please give me a call or send me an email so that we can work together to meet these expectations! We are partners in your child’s education and it does take a village (parents, school, child, and community) to ensure the success of all children and our future! Our students win when they know we are partners in their education, so welcome to our team!

Finally, a little about my family. My husband, Rob, and I have been married for 27 years. He is the principal at H. H. Poole Middle School. We have two SCPS Graduates! Our daughter is a proud graduate of Virginia Tech! Thanks to her education here at SCPS and the IB program, she had an amazing experience as a VT Hokie and is now continuing her education to become a pediatrician. Our son is a proud graduate of ODU. He too excelled due to the preparation he had at MVHS and the STAT program at NSHS. We also have an energetic Chesapeake Bay Retriever who still has a lot of energy at 13 years old.

I look forward to meeting all of our new Wildcat families and, most importantly, your child! I also look forward to continuing our amazing partnership with our current WES families. Thank you for sharing your most precious gift with us each day! I promise I will love them just like they’re my own!

Sincerely,

Karen
