About the School Principal
Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rebecca Wardlow
I am very proud to say that I am beginning my third year as the principal of Winding Creek, and my thirtieth year in education. I am originally from Arkansas where I was born and lived until I graduated from Hendrix College and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana for my first teaching position. After two years in Shreveport, I married my husband, who was activity duty military, and we moved overseas to Japan. I was fortunate to travel, live, and teach in many places as a military family. My husband and I have two daughters who have grown into beautiful young ladies. In 2002, my husband retired, and we moved to Stafford, Virginia. I taught for seven years before getting my masters in Educational Leadership and moving into administration as an assistant principal at both Widewater and Anthony Burns Elementary Schools.
In 2014, I was given the honor to serve as principal of Winding Creek, and we began a journey that has allowed us to define the Winding Creek learner profile, which means when students leave Winding Creek they will be Critical Thinkers, Collaborators, Communicators, Creators with outstanding Character and a positive Mindset. We are starting our third year in this journey, and I am excited about what the future holds. The greatest attribute of Winding Creek is that we are a family. I am excited to be a part of such a positive community of learners, parents, teachers, and staff and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
