  • Request to see a School Counselor 

    If you need to see a School Counselor, you must complete a Request to see a School Counselor Form.  You will be called to the Counseling Center when someone is available.  If this is an emergency, you must tell the closest adult as soon as possible.

     

    Mission Statement

    The Dixon-Smith Middle School Counseling Program aligns with the mission statement of Dixon-Smith Middle School and advocates for all students to become independent, life-long learners by promoting essential skills for post-secondary education and career development. We provide all students with meaningful counseling prevention and intervention which fosters developmentally appropriate social and emotional growth, academic success, and mindfulness.

  • All students will participate in social emotional learning activities on Mondays and Fridays through Bulldog Block.

    Counselors are available from 8:00am - 3:20pm to speak to you and/or your student. Topics may include, but are not limited to academic courses, program planning, and parental concerns related to social and emotional topics impacting their student's success. Counselors are available for appointments by e-mailing your student's counselor directly or by contacting our Counseling Office at (540) 899-0860.

     

    Naviance is a tool that allows students to explore interests, careers, and colleges.  Naviance can be located in the students' Google drive. 

    Students are encouraged to complete their Academic Career Plan

    From the front screen go to:  About Me - My Assessments - My surveys - Academic career plan.  Complete numbers 1 thru 8.

    Upon completion of the Academic Career Plan head to Road Nation and find and view a short video highlighting a career of interest of yours.
