  • The School Nurse

    The School Nurse is a resource for students, families and staff for health information on a variety of topics. In addition the nurse is part of the Student Services Team and the special education eligibility process. She is also involved with teaching and training for staff and students on various health topics as they apply to the school setting.

    SCPS MEDICATION POLICY

    ALL medications administered by school personnel in SCPS will require a medication permission form completed and signed by a Health Care Provider and a parent. This includes all short term medications Please review the medication guidelines.

    School Registration

    Immunizations

    This is just a reminder to all parents of 7th grade students to make sure your child has received the required TDAP booster shot before the first day of school. Written documentation of this vaccine is required for school attendance. If you have questions please contact your health care provider or the Virginia Department of Health.

    Health Screenings

    Routine screenings for vision and hearing begin in September. The following students will be screened for vision and hearing: All 7th grade students, New students, requests from parents, teachers.

    Scoliosis is curvature of the spine. It affects 2-3% of the population.  If the condition is detected early and appropriately treated, progressive spine deformity can be prevented. Seventh grade students are encouraged to be screened by their Health Care Provider during their routine physical exam for this condition.
