The Counseling Program at Kate Waller Barrett strives to support our administration, teachers, parents, and community in helping all students to reach their full potential as members of society. The Counseling Program strives to provide the scholars at Barrett with a safe and caring learning environment in which to develop their emotional, academic, and social skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the community in which they live.
Families please keep an eye out for the Counselor's Corner Newsletter, it is being emailed out by your child's teacher!
We are gearing up for Operation Warm: More than a Warm Coat. I know it is September and it is still hot outside, but the winter months are fast approaching! If you are in need of a coat(s) for your children we will be sending out a mass email in the next few weeks asking for name, gender, size of coat, etc. The coats should be in around the end of October!
The counseling department has small groups available for our students here at Barrett! Participation in small groups is optional. Small groups are led by the school counselors, Ms. Pearce and Mrs. Folk! Small groups can be an effective way to help students be more successful in school, where their successes are more than just academic but social and emotional as well. Students wil have the opportunity to work on establishing postivie relationships with peers and adults, developing empathy for others, and learn and develop coping skills for stressful and overwhelming situations. If you are interested in your child being a part of a small group please complete the interest form linked HERE or call/email your childs school counselor. K-2 Kristy Folk and 3-5 Courtney Pearce
