A Reading Contest for Middle School Students
The middle schools of Stafford County have created the reading contest “Battle of the Books”. The contest is a promotional reading program with a county-wide competition in the spring. Each middle school will create a team of up to twelve students who together have a comprehensive knowledge of fifteen pre-selected books. These teams will compete against each other at the Stafford County Battle of the Books to test their understanding of these books in a Jeopardy-style quiz of knowledg.
Here at Gayle, seventh grade English teachers each recruit a team of super-readers to compete in a challenge. Our seventh graders will compete in a battle this winter to determine which team best knows these books. Winning teams will earn "bragging rights" and a celebration. Students who wish to take their knowledge to the next level can compete for a spot in our county-wide Gayle team.
January 23, 2024 Is Battle Day at Drew Middle School!
