Welcome to Health and Physical Education Class
The physical education curriculum concentrates on five areas of instruction for all students: skilled movement, movement principles and concepts, personal fitness, responsible behaviors, and physically active lifestyle.
Students will attend Health and Physical Education classes twice a week for 45 minutes each. These classes, team taught by Mr. Harrel and Ms. Hinton will provide students with opportunities to develop and engage in meaningful physical activity both in the present and for a lifetime. Safety is our top priority. Students should come to class wearing proper attire to include close toe, rubber sole shoes for physical activities.

Tiger Track Club
Every student will participate in Tiger Track Club at the beginning of the P.E. class. Students will run for 6 minutes accumulating as many laps as possible. Laps will be recorded using QR codes and new electronic system that will allow students to track progress from home. 5 laps is equal to 1 mile. Each time a student completes 5 miles (25 laps) they will earn a foot token to show their achievement.

Families are encouraged to reinforce the objectives of the health and physical education program by providing opportunities for making healthy choices and being active as a family.
Families can support good health by turning family time into active time, setting limits on screen time, limiting fast food, making family meals a special time to eat together, keeping a family activity log. Family members can also volunteer for field day, a great way to show enthusiasm for student’s health.
