Graduation Questions and Answers
After the ceremony is over, graduates will report back into the school building to pick up their diploma (only the diploma cover is given at the ceremony so that the diploma is not ruined in the outside elements). Our graduates will only have 10 minutes to report back to the classroom in which they initially reported. Diplomas will be made available on Monday, June 1, 2020, in the Counseling Center for students who were not able to make it back inside the building to pick up the diploma.
Please discuss and agree with your graduating senior on a common meeting area.
Guests will not be allowed to enter the school building with their student.
Remind your graduating student that their cell phone must be "silenced" during the ceremony, but may be used after the ceremony is over to assist with locating family members.
Speed Limit | 15 MPH
Maintain a safe speed of 15 MPH or less at all times while on our campus roadways and in our parking lots. Expect heavy pedestrian traffic.
Graduating Senior Parking

Parking officials will be available on campus directing the flow of traffic to all parking lots.
An Overflow Lot will be used when all other parking locations are at capacity.
Parking is forbidden in "No Parking Zones" to allow for proper traffic flow patterns.

Ceremony Postponement Policy and Dress Code
Graduation Ceremony Postponement Policy
The graduation ceremony will take at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Please note, this ceremony is conducted outside.
In the event of light rain with no threat of lightning, the ceremony will proceed in the stadium. In the event of severe weather, the graduation ceremony will be delayed in hourly increments: 9:00 AM, then 10:00 AM, etc. up until 7:00 PM. If severe weather prevents us from having the graduation ceremony event on Saturday, August 1, 2020, the event will be moved to 8:00 AM on Sunday, August 2, 2020. The event will be delayed in hourly increments on Sunday, August 2, 2020: 9:00 AM, then 10:00 AM, etc. up until 7:00 PM. If severe weather continues to prevent us from having the graduation ceremony on Sunday, August 2, 2020, the graduation ceremony will be moved to 8:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2020. A decision will be made by 12:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2020, to move the event into the gymansium at 4:00 PM.
Due to the gymnasium being a smaller venue, each graduate will only be allowed a limited number of family members to attend the graduation ceremony in our gymnasium. We apologize ahead of time about this inconvenience.
Our graduation ceremony displays the great achievements of our students on this special day for them. An appropriate dress code for our guests will be requested.
We ask our guests to carry out a business casual dress code. This dress code allows for a variety of styles from khaki shorts and pants to a complete suit for males or a light spring dress for females.
Please use your best judgment when determining appropriate dress. Please also consider possible humid weather conditions and temperatures in the 80s for the morning hours.
Jeans and t-shirts are discouraged from being worn.
Graduating Senior Dress Code
The attire that should be worn underneath the cap and gown of our graduating seniors is the following:
- A dark dress or dress pants and blouse; dark dress shoes (flats or wedges)
- Dark dress pants; white collared shirt; tie (optional); dark dress shoes
Flip-flops or sandals are not allowed to be worn. Please keep in mind that the graduating senior will be walking on grassy areas and ladies are encouraged to wear flat shoes or wedges.
The graduation gown may not be altered in any way. If any changes are made to the gown, the changes will have to be removed before the ceremony or the graduate will not be able to participate.
Procedures for Moving the Graduation Ceremony Indoors
A final decision on an inside ceremony will be made by 12:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2020. In the unlikely event that the graduation ceremony is moved indoors, the ceremony will take place in the gymnasium of North Stafford High School at 4:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2020. There will be a limited number of seats available due to the gymnasium being a smaller venue. We apologize ahead of time for this inconvenience. We ask that you prepare your family members in this event that some may not be allowed to participate in the ceremony because of limited seating. If it is determined that the ceremony take place inside, an announcement will be made on our school website.
