Dear Ferry Farm Families,
We are preparing to kick off our annual 2018-19 Science Fair! It is so important to motivate students with science. Through a science fair project, students learn how to apply their existing abilities, as well as learn many new skills. A science fair project can involve everything from scientific methodology, reading, logical thinking, writing, grammar, spelling, and math to advanced topics such as statistics, data analysis, computer science, and graphic arts. Students also practice public speaking and learn how to explain and defend their work in front of a panel of judges.
Included in the Science Fair packet, your child received, you will find helpful timelines and information to keep your child’s project moving along. Additionally, this year, we will be providing 3 optional support sessions on January 7th, 14th, and 30th. These sessions will allow students to ask questions or to receive support on their presentation. Parents and guardians must provide transportation. Students must be picked up by 4:30. If your child will be attending the after-school sessions, they must have a signed note in order to stay after school.
As always, WE NEED YOUR HELP. Please consider volunteering and inviting friends and family to volunteer to help judge at this year's Science Fair. Please sign up at by clicking on this link and also, feel free to share this link with others. We cannot provide this amazing opportunity for our students without your help!
We hope that you are as excited as we are, to watch your child think like a scientist!
