FFES Learning Garden Page!
We are so thankful that you decided to check out our Garden Club page. Here at Ferry Farm, we believe that our learning garden provides students with many unique opportunities. We love that our garden provides hands-on learning experiences that tie into the curriculum, but we are most excited that the garden teaches students to be responsible citizens. Students LOVE learning in and about the garden!
We encourage our families to "visit" our learning garden before and after school. Families may choose to simply enjoy the space or volunteer time to care for it. We are very happy to share our space with our community and thus, we permit families to plant approved items within the garden if it maintains or improves the quality and integrity of the garden.
If you happen to visit our garden, you may see painted stones, frog habitats, and beautiful stepping stones placed around the garden. These beautiful pieces of garden art were created by our very own FFES students! Each spring, Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Hall host a Garden Club for upper elementary students. Students stay after school one day a week for approximately five weeks to learn about the necessary maintenance needs of a garden, as well as how to care for living things within the garden--everything from plants to fish and turtles! The club is designed to help students and their families become more environmentally aware. If your child hasn't gotten to participate yet, or you haven't gotten a chance to volunteer in Garden Club, we hope to see you next spring!
Thanks again for stopping by our page! If you have any questions concerning the garden, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Lee!
Coming this April, to the Barbara Jarnecke Learning Garden, we have a fun club that offers the opportunity to learn, plant, and lend a helping hand in our amazing garden! Please check out the flyer below! We hope that your third grader will join us each Tuesday through May 21st.
