Marine Corps JROTC - WILDCAT BATTALION
-
The Mountain View High School (MVHS) Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) program has been designated a Naval Honor School by the Commanding General of Marine Corps Training and Education Command for three consecutive years and won the Marine Corps Reserve Association (MCRA) Award for the 2019-2020 school year. Being designated a Naval Honor School means that a Marine Corps JROTC program is in the top 20 percent of all programs. The MCRA recognizes the most outstanding MCJROTC unit in each region. There are 268 MCJROTC programs worldwide currently divided among four regions.
Our cadets are focused on academics, military proficiency skills, physical fitness, and leadership, as outlined in the course syllabus. Although not required, cadets are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities: CyberPatriot, Drill, Color Guard, Air Rifle Marksmanship, Raider Challenge, and Physical Training. Additional activities include community service, fundraisers, and orientation trips. The MCJROTC educational experience has a greater impact on cadets when they actively participate.
