• A. G. Wright Middle School was founded in 1981.  Originally called Garrisonville Elementary and Middle School (GEMS), it housed grades K-8.  The elementary grades were housed on the side that remains Garrisonville Elementary with 6th - 8th Grades on the middle school.  The building was renamed in 1991 to honor A. G. Wright, a long-time employee and one-time superintendent of Stafford County Public Schools.

In 2011, the Media Center of the middle school was renamed to honor a beloved teacher who unfortunately succumbed to cancer the year before.  Colonel Curt Southwick, a former Marine and exemplary math teacher would be proud to have his name over the doors to our library.
