Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Margaret Mayhew
I am so blessed to be working with your children this year! I absolutely love teaching children. My love of teaching started when my husband, Bud and I had our two boys Aaron and Adam. I began volunteering at their school and soon after went back to school to become a teacher. I have taught kindergarten and preschool for the past 24 years. Each year I feel so excited to meet the new class, the children bring so much life and wonder to the classroom. I plan on having a great year that is full of fun, learning and high expectations. We have a great team of adults, Miss Stephanie, Miss Kristina, and myself that will work with your child to develop skills that will help them become lifelong learners. We will learn about ways to interact with each other to fine-tune our social skills and manners. Literacy skills will be introduced and reviewed daily during storytime, small groups and free choice time. Children will be encouraged to communicate thoughts, ideas, and questions as they move through their day. Math skills will be intertwined throughout lessons so children will begin to learn concepts of quantity, number recognition and how we use these skills in everyday life. Learning occurs in large, small and individual time. Each day during free choice children learns to make choices and explore the classroom environment which is full of a variety of hands-on learning choices. We appreciate all that you do to help your child learn at home. Remember you are their first teacher, what a great honor and responsibility you have. Please if you ever have a question an/or concern contact me at school or by email.
