Advisory Committees Explained

  • The school board created seven advisory committees via SCPS Policy 1110. The mission of these advisory groups is to compile data, analyze problems, summarize findings, and develop recommendations for the school board. The committees meet throughout the school year (late September through late May), and submit their recommendations to the school board in a year-end report in June. The seven committees are:

    Capital Improvement Planning
    Career and Technical Education
    Fine and Performing Arts
    Gifted
    School Health
    Special Education
    Technology

We welcome any Stafford County citizen (including SCPS students!) to participate. We encourage you to submit an application to the clerk of the school board via email at schoolboardclerk@staffordschools.net or via US Post at 31 Stafford Avenue, Stafford, Virginia 22554. Applications are accepted for consideration by the school board throughout the year. The application form can be found on the "Join an Advisory Committee!" webpage.

Membership applications will be presented to the school board for consideration and approval during a regular school board meeting. To apply, please contact the clerk of the school board at schoolboardclerk@staffordschools.net.
