I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mary Thompson and I am honored to be your child’s fifth grade long-term substitute teacher for a time period during the 2019-2020 school year at Rockhill Elementary. This is my tenth year of teaching at Rockhill and I am very excited to return after taking a sabbatical for a year. I have been an active member of the Rockhill community for 14 years, with children who attended Rockhill. I am a Virginia licensed K-6th teacher with a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Washington.
In the coming year your child will complete another important milestones of his or her life! I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note, email me at email@example.com or call me at the school at 540-658-6360 and leave a message with the office. Throughout the year I will be sending out newsletters to update you on what we have been learning in class, as well as future events. I will also use Google classroom and Twitter to communicate information and pictures. For individual concerns that might arise, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you. Please make sure to check your child’s take home folder and agenda each day.
Participation in your child’s education at home will make them a stronger and successful student. Please feel free to participate at your child’s school as much as you are able for helping hands are always needed and appreciated. Activities such as reading a story to the class, helping in the classroom, helping with field trips, class celebrations, or any other ways, will greatly enrich your child’s educational experience.
I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!
