    Posted: Thursday, June 10, 2021 4:03 pm

    SHS Families,

Please see the information below regarding mask wearing for graduation.

Students, Staff, and Spectators wearing a mask should use a well-fitting mask that fits completely over their nose and mouth.

The following categories of people are exempt from the requirement to wear a mask:
    1.  A child under the age of 2 years.
    2.  A person with a disability who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, for reasons related to the disability.
    3.  A person for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to workplace health, safety, or job duty as determined by the workplace risk assessment.
    4.  Fully vaccinated people who can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing themselves.

A few more notes for graduation:

Spectators will NOT be asked to produce proof of vaccinations or proof of disability at the gate. This is an honor system.

Masks are not required to be worn crossing the stage to receive the diploma and to get a picture. This goes for both vaccinated and unvaccinated seniors. Seniors may elect to wear a mask crossing the stage. Please discuss your family preference prior to graduation.

  • Updated Graduation 2021 Information: Parking and Sunset Event on June 7th

    Posted: Wednesday, June 1, 2021 4:31 pm

    SHS Seniors and Families,

Here are some reminders and information about parking for graduation on Saturday June 12th. The only cars that will be allowed to park in the student lot at SHS are those that have a graduate in the car. Families may ride with graduates. Graduates must put their graduation cap on the dashboard to get access to the SHS campus. If you have other family members or guests who are coming in a different vehicle, they must go to Leeland Station to take the buses. We encourage families to carpool to help reduce the number of cars. But again, families or guests can join graduates in a car. Busses will begin picking up families at Leeland Station beginning at 7:30. We have fifteen total busses along with two special needs busses running.

On June 7th, we will be having a Sunset Event for seniors. Also, on the 7th, seniors will be able to return items such as books and chromebooks that are due before graduation. This return will take place on the bus ramp. Please follow the map. When leaving, students can park at the upper lot and walk over to the stadium. At that time, we will have the scoreboard lit up to 2021. Seniors will be able to see their senior signs as well as taking pictures in front of our scoreboard. Senior signs provided by SHS will be available to take after graduation.

    Dear SHS Graduates and Parents/Guardians:

I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an important update regarding our upcoming graduation ceremony. Because of the recent change in the Governor’s Amended Executive Order 72, we are now able to host one graduation. Therefore, we are going to hold one graduation ceremony on Saturday June 12th at 9:30 AM

Each graduate will not need tickets. Additionally, all guests are required to follow mask-wearing requirements. To help ease parking issues and traffic congestion, we encourage families to carpool. We will be providing additional parking at other locations. There will be busses available to transport guest from these locations to graduation and back. There will be more information on parking coming soon. If you are unable to attend graduation, we will provide a livestream of the ceremony.

Moving forward, I also want to remind our community about some important dates and events. Please note the following:

Monday, May 24th, from 3:30 PM until 7:30 PM: We will have our drive-thru station areas for pictures.
Monday, June 7th, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM: We will host our Senior Drive-Thru 2021 Celebration event. More information to come.

Finally, award ceremonies leading up to graduation will be virtual and/or in person. This will be determined by the size of the event. The Governor's reopening phases and lesser restrictions require planning and time at the division and school level. I would like to thank all staff, PTSO, and volunteers who have helped with many events this year. We appreciate your support and help.

Additional information and other specific graduation announcements such as practices will be provided at a later time. Please continue to remind Seniors to check emails twice a day for important information.

    Very Respectfully,

    Allen Hicks
    Principal
