Welcome to Mrs. Frantz’s
First Grade Jungle!
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am so excited to have you as a part of my class this year. I have designed this webpage to be a place where you can go to stay informed on the events and activities in our classroom! Please feel free to explore.
Welcome to first grade! This website is all about us! Your parents can come here to find out what we are doing in class, and other important information. We are going to have a lot of fun this year, and learn many new and interesting things! I hope that you have had an amazing summer, full of fun and adventure! I am so excited to meet you, and to have each of you in my class. This is going to be a great year!
Welcome to first grade! As a mother/teacher, I share this advice with you, don't "blink"! Take lots of pictures, and save lots of class work samples! Your child will grow by leaps and bounds this year! First grade is a HUGE developmental year for EVERY child. In fact, we have the largest reading goals of all grades K-5!! Your child will hopefully enter 1st grade on a level C/D and then exit 1st grade around a level J!! You will be amazed by how much they will learn this year!!
We will be learning many new and exciting things this year! As I mentioned, 1st grade is a year of HUGE academic and developmental growth. Together, you and I will be tramsforming your child into independent readers! We will also begin to teach him/her to take the first steps towards being responsible for his/her own education, and encouraging them on the path to becoming "life-long Learners"!!
This is my seventhth year teaching 1st grade, and I have also been a 1st grade parent twice, but it always amazes me how fast children grow during this particular year. As I already mentioned, in first grade, we have the largest academic goals in for reading from beginning to end of the year. I will warn you now, there will be days when you will think my standards are impossibly high. However, I promise you, that I have your child's best interest at heart, and that my standards are what is necessary to assist your child in reaching his/her academic potential, and our rigorous learning goals in first grade. Please remember, that it will take both of us working together to get your child where they need to be for second grade. If you ever have any questions or concerns at any time, never hesitate to ask!
I look forward to working with both you and your child this year!
