Black History Month Events

During the month of February, some SCPS schools will hold events in honor of Black History Month.

North Stafford High School will present Black History Celebration of Black Excellence on Thursday, February 28, 2019, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Reverend Josh Cole, NSHS alumni and Stafford NAACP President, is the keynote speaker. College choirs, college and business vendors, poetry, and more are a part of this free community event. North Stafford High School is located at 839 Garrisonville Road, Stafford, Virginia, 22554.

Hampton Oaks Elementary School will share quotes and history of famous African Americans each week on the morning news program in the school. The Hawks created a bulletin board in the school that highlights famous African Americans in the fields of music, physical education, art, library, and technology. The S.I.R. Hawks boys group will welcome a guest speaker from the community to share tips on setting life goals. Stafford High School will hold a Black History Celebration Slam N' Step on Saturday, February 16, 2019, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are sold at the door. Stafford High School is located at 63 Stafford Indian Lane, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22405.
