All About Mrs. Jen Miller
Hi, I am Mrs. Miller. I am the director here at The Little Wolverine's Den. It is my job to teach the high school students enrolled in my class, Early Childhood Education, to be the best preschool teachers they can be. I was born in Fort Belvoir, VA but I have moved a lot because my dad was in the Coast Guard. While growing up, I lived in CA, WA, NJ, and VA. I lived in VA the longest and actually attended H.H. Poole Middle School and North Stafford High School. While here at NSHS I took the Early Childhood Education class and received the highest GPA my junior year and Teacher of the Year my senior year. I also worked at Goddard Day Care Center my entire senior year and was asked to become a lead teacher. I had to turn them down so that I could attend Longwood University and earn my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies, Elementary Education.
Shortly after graduating from Longwood in May 2007, I got married to my high school sweetheart that I had been dating for 6 years. I became a Kindergarten Teacher in Loudoun County and then we decided to move to San Antonio, TX. I taught 1st grade for the 4 years we lived there. We also had 2 daughters while living there. Hailey was born in June 2010 and Breanna was born in November 2011.
After having our daughters, we decided we wanted to come back to VA to be near family. I taught 4th grade at Winding Creek Elementary School for 1 year and then I had our third daughter, Madison in April 2013. I then became a stay-at-home mom for 2 years to spend time with my girls. After that time, I wanted to return to teaching but I wanted to try something different, so I contacted my NSHS ECE teacher, Mrs. Eyestone. I asked her how I could get her job. It was perfect timing because she was retiring. In pursuing this role, I became certified to teach Family and Consumer Sciences.
I truly enjoy my position. I love being able to teach high school students child development and tips and tricks for working with preschoolers. I also love singing and dancing with the preschoolers. It is such a nice balance and I might just have the best job ever!
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, going to concerts, watching shows and movies, walking on trails, and trying new and exciting things!
I think that just about sums me up! If you would like to know more about me, feel free to ask. :~)
